Urban Milling
We love trees, and our beautiful planet Earth. That is why we make an effort to source our wood from urban mills. Urban milling is the practice of saving trees that are destined to the chipper, spitting carbon dioxide into the air. City’s see these fallen trees as waste, because its fast, easy and cost effective to simply shred or burn these trees. They are perfectly good material and often have some of the most figured grains and character when milled into wood slabs. Small mills (often solo or family run businesses) swoop in and take these trees off the cities hands and mill, dry and sell these slabs to woodworkers like us. An all around win win: The city doesnt have to deal with removing these fallen trees, and the small business mills get their source for logs. viola!
